A Catholic priest, Father Glenn Humphreys was charged in Sydney's Burwood Local Court on 23 April 2014 with multiple sexual offences allegedly committed against boys from St Stanislaus College in Bathurst, New South Wales.
This was a brief administrative procedure carried out in court by the magistrate.
The charges include 14 counts of aggravated sexual assault relating to alleged incidents between 1975 and 1982, during Father Humphrey’s time at St Stanislaus’ College. Since 1982, Father Humphreys has worked in several other Australian states (St Stanislaus College is owned by an Australia-wide Catholic religious order, the Vincentian Fathers, which has its Australian headquarters in Marsfield, Sydney).
On court documents, Father Glenn Michael Humphreys' date of birth was given as 6 July 1953 and his address (in early 2014) was given as Marsfield in Sydney.
Father Humphreys' case will come up again in a New South Wales magistrates court at a later date.
The investigation by New South Wales police is continuing.
The police investigation was begun by detectives in Strike Force Belle at Bathurst police station, NSW. The police officer who lodged the information for the court is listed as Detective Sergeant Justin Hadley, formerly of Bathurst Police, now attached to Sydney’s Northern Beaches police command.
